Krista Swanson, PhD

I am a non-dual, clinical psychologist who offers Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) to adults and teens. My approach is centered on structurally and culturally responsive psychological health care. I celebrate typical development as well as neurodivergent development. I focus most on treating the interpersonal and brain-body impacts of: trauma (C-PTSD), anxiety, depression, compulsions (OCD); ADHD, autism, barriers to optimal executive functioning (focus, organization, follow through); attention /emotion /behavior /impulse /sleep dysregulation; substance abuse/narcissism/neglect/abuse in the family: the prevention and response to gender-based violence including the structural challenges/ violence that women/girls face and that LGBTQIA+ populations face. Cultivating an integrated brain and body brings ease, flow, emotional grace, self-direction and freedom. Cultivating interpersonal and social integration takes that brain and body health further.

I incorporate whatever tools allow you to speak most freely-whether that’s talking, art, writing, music, play, movement or any other means of expression that we discover together. If desired, we can integrate your spirituality into your psychotherapy for a greater holistic approach to healing and personal growth. Infant/ Child

In addition, I offer parent-infant/toddler dyadic therapy and child play therapy. I offer a number of treatment models each of which draw from Drs. Stephen Porges’ (polyvagal theory), T. Berry Brazelton’s (NBAS + Touchpoints) and Heidelise Als’ (NIDCAP prematurely born newborns and compromised newborns), as well as Dr. Bruce Perry’s (NMT, “What Happened To You?”) work with children. Our parent-child therapy approach for children with diagnoses on the Autism Spectrum aligns most closely with Dr. Stanley Greenspan’s Developmental Individualized Relational (DIR-Floortime) model. I also offer streamlined, fun and doable-at-home approaches to parenting consultation which most closely aligns with that of my colleagues, Drs. Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, as covered in their best sellers, “No Drama Discipline,” “The Yes Brain,” “The Whole-Brain Child,” etc.

I bring 13 years of doctoral and postdoctoral level training and 33 years of neuroscience-driven clinical experience to streamlining your path. I am a non-dual metaphysician, who offers human-centered, trauma-informed, energy work… my healing modalities are color, sound, energy, guided astral travel, and past life regression to help heal past wounds and to foster life in the natural joy of presence. This work addresses both symptom relief and underlying conflicts, internalized messages, and limiting self-stories. My goal is to create an environment which invites exploration of all inner experiences-including the ones that are difficult or impossible to put into words, the ones that drive cycles which can leave us feeling stuck or victimized within our own minds and bodies.
